The Mission of the Deer Mountain Tribal Hatchery & Eagle Center is to promote public service through conservation, education, and stewardship of the indigenous birds and fish of Southeast Alaska. Our facility promotes knowledge and appreciation of the cultural ties between the Native people of Southeast Alaska and wildlife of Southeast Alaska. We work continually to develop and implement high quality programs for the benefit of our wildlife and their habitat, specifically those species of Native American cultural and traditional importance; conduct field surveys and population monitoring; conduct natural history studies and provide public education on habitat preservation and wildlife conservation.
The DMTHEC provides educational tours to visitors while presenting the cultural significance of selected species in our presentations. We are a Tribally managed and operated hatchery and eagle center and therefore promote Native values throughout the operation.
